Community Advisory Board

The WCQS Community Advisory Board (CAB) is composed of members of the community who are reasonably representative of the diverse needs and interests of the communities served by our stations.  The CAB reviews the station’s programming, the community service provided by the station and the impact of significant policy decisions rendered by the station.  The CAB is a vehicle for the public to have the opportunity to be heard regarding these issues.

The CAB advises the station's Board of Directors (Board) with respect to whether the programming and other policies of WCQS are meeting the specialized educational and cultural needs of the communities we serve, and may make such recommendations to the Board as it considers appropriate to meet these needs.

The CAB is solely an advisory body to the Board, and is distinct from and independent of the Board.  The CAB, as an advisory body, does not have authority to exercise any control over the daily management or operation of the station.
    
The CAB meets at regular intervals - currently the first Wednesday of May and December - at 12:30 PM in the WCQS building at 73 Broadway in downtown Asheville.
 
The composition of the CAB community advisory board reflects its independent role, and does not include members of the station staff or Board in anything other than an ex officio or administrative capacity.  Members of the CAB include:
