Download the Capital Campaign Brochure (pdf)

For more than 20 years Western North Carolina has depended on WCQS for local and national news, classical music, jazz, emergency weather updates, and cultural programming. Starting in 1975 with a single low-powered transmitter from the UNCA campus, reaching only a very small part of Asheville, WCQS has today become an award-winning community based radio station that reaches more than 400,000 people throughout Western North Carolina. Our programming helps to create the strong sense of place and high quality of life that we enjoy in our region.

Transmitting to Tomorrow is a campaign to secure the future of your public radio station. This campaign will expand our capacity to serve Western North Carolina.

Transmitting to Tomorrow has five objectives that will help WCQS fulfill these community needs and enhance the quality of life in our region.

Transmitting to Tomorrow Objectives:

1. ACQUIRE a second WCQS Radio Station

2. EXTEND WCQS to New Communities

3. RENOVATE the WCQS Building

4. CONVERT to Digital Broadcast Equipment

5. ATTAIN Financial Independence
