GOAL 5: ATTAIN Financial Independence

Download the Capital Campaign Brochure (pdf)

WCQS is committed to fiscal responsibility. The purchase of our building was a crucial step toward financial independence and self-reliance. Now Transmitting to Tomorrow is providing the next step: retirement of our $455,OOO mortgage.

By retiring our mortgage, this campaign will free funds to be reinvested into listener and programming services. The debt-free goal of this campaign will mean that our donors' annual contributions will support programming and public service rather than mortgage payments.

Our mortgage-free plan will generate a significant and recurring source of unrestricted funds for the station's annual operating budget. Our debt-free building, when combined with rental income from leasing extra space, will reap more annual income than the station could expect to receive from a traditional $1.5 million endowment. In effect, this goal will make the WCQS building a "Living Endowment." We will experience all the benefits of a traditional endowment for less than one-third the cost - an amazing result from this investment in the station's welfare.
