Jazz Shack

Richard Layman hosts this program featuring archival jazz recordings.

Host Richard Layman gets the joint jumping on the Jazz Shack each Friday night from 10 to midnight with gutsy, rootsy, archival jazzlayman150.jpg recordings.

Layman began spinning discs on WCQS in 1993.  The Jazz Shack airs Fridays from 10 p.m. to midnight and showcases Layman’s personal collection of jazz music.  While he has a special affection for the jazz of the 1920’s, he plays archival recordings from throughout the decades.  Layman gives a bit of story behind the recordings, giving the listener an image of what was going on in the evolution of the jazz music scene [and ergo in our country] which brings the recordings to vivid life.

Tune in Friday nights at 10 for the Jazz Shack
