Lizz's new collection of essays is "Lizz Free or Die," and we talk to Dr. Andrew Weil about what we really should be worrying about when we worry about what we eat .
6 pm: A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION
Coming to you this week from The Town Hall in New York, NY, it's a live broadcast performance of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. Plus, the Royal Academy of Radio Actors, Tim Russell, Sue Scott, and Fred Newman, The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, and the latest News from Lake Wobegon.
3 pm: HANUKKAH LIGHTS 2012
A perennial NPR favorite, Hanukkah Lights features Hanukkah stories and memoirs written by acclaimed authors expressly for the show, as read by NPR's Susan Stamberg and Murray Horwitz.
4 pm: THIS AMERICAN LIFE – “This Week”
This week, we take on ... This Week. Stories united by one thing: They all happened in the seven days prior to broadcast. As we write this show description, we have zero tape, and only a vague notion of what will end up on the show. Some hints: people gathering to see "snow" at an Arizona mall; a wedding toast honoring the king of wedding toasters; looking for scattered middle school students in Queens; and a game of parliamentary chicken in the U.S. Senate. At this point, your guess is as good as ours.
Sunday – 12/8
7 am: ON BEING
In honor of Hanukkah, we remember the life and teachings of the great Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. He was a 20th century mystic, a religious prophet, a social activist.
